LITTLE ITALY FIERA 2007

Little Italy College Street, between Shaw and Bathurst.     Street Closure in effect.    Free Admission.  

Little Italy Fiera  on College Street From Saturday September 1st from noon to 11 pm and Sunday September 2nd noon to 11 pm, you can visit Italy without leaving Toronto.  Little Italy on College St between Shaw and Bathurst will be transformed into a genuine Italian street festival.  In addition to great entertainment on the Palmerston stage, stroll along College St and enjoy the sound of Italian music performed on each block throughout Little Italy by talented local Italian musicians. Sample the Italian delicacies being presented by over 70 restaurants on College St.  Among the many delectable tastes, a number of the restaurants are presenting their special Sagra…an authentic Italian dish representative of their favorite feast from a village in Italy, such as Zeppole, Pesche Fritti, polpette, porchetta, gelato; all prepared in the traditional way…for $2-$5.  The restaurants showcasing traditional Sagras will be featured on www.toronto.com/littleitaly and www.chinradio.com .   To complete the Italian flavour, the Columbus Centre, the pride of the Italian community, will partner with the Little Italy Business Association and offer a fabulous Italian art exhibit on College Street during Fiera weekend.  FIERA 2007 is truly a celebration of Italy—in Little Italy on College Street….


 

will present Super Weekend Italiano entertainment, direct from Italy NU' POCO E NAPULE on the PALMERSTON STAGE.

 

 

Lenny Lombardi, Chair of Little Italy BIA,  will present the 26th edition of the  Johnny Lombardi Canadian-Italian  Song Festival .  “I am very proud to offer this Italian cultural experience to all residents of Toronto,” said Lenny Lombardi.  “My father, Johnny Lombardi, was passionate about the Italian culture and the desire to share it with all Canadians.  Where better to experience Italian culture, music and cuisine, than in the heart of Little Italy on College Street?”  The Song Competition bridges all communities and music lovers, and will feature the beautiful and popular songs of Italy, plus original songs composed and performed by talented Canadians of Italian heritage.  The song festival will be held on Sunday September 2nd.   The CHIN Festival Orchestra, which will perform with the singers, is comprised of some of Toronto's finest musicians, led by musical director Frank Baggetta.   The Song Festival contestants will be vying for thousands of dollars in cash prizes, gifts and awards, and the opportunity to further their music careers through television and radio exposure on CHIN TV and CHIN Radio. Direct from Italy, fetured entertainment is NU' POCO E NAPULE.
